They call Texier ‘Chat Fou’ (Crazy Cat) because he likes to do things his own way. Here he plays with the tradition of reds from the Rhône being topped up with a little white wine by co-fermenting the red grape, Grenache, with the white, Clairette. The result is a deliciously smooth, spicy wine of great purity with gorgeous, lifted aromatics coming through from the white grapes. This gives the wine a vivid, translucent ruby appearance too.
